Police lock down Road in Cowes following incident

Police have descended on to a road this afternoon in Cowes. Pallance Road is a wash with Police vehicles and a Police van. Residents described the road a sea of blue lights with approximately six police vehicles in the road. Officers started to arrive in the road just after 6pm and still remain. One homeowner whom asked not to be named has said they understand that an arrest has been made but was unsure what for. Officers remain outside a property following a stop and search for drugs. During the search an officer was assaulted. The suspect is understood to have made off from officers during the search one officer substained an eye injury. Hampshire Constabulary say that the assault suspect fled the area on a motorcycle. The individual that was being searched fled on foot. No arrests have been made at this time.
