Police In Eastleigh Carried Out An Operation Over The Weekend Targeting Drug Misuse On The Pubs Premises

Officers using a Drug Spectrum Analyser on the door of The Spitfire in Eastleigh, which takes test swabs from people’s hands and checks it against a database for all known chemical compounds of drugs and prescription medication.

Police confirmed the Operation was conducted in partnership with The Spitfire pub as part of the condition of entry and there was concern of drug misuse on their premises.

A total of 55 drug swipes carried out throughout the evening.

14 of these were positive for a trace amount of illegal drugs; which therefore did not give police enough grounds to search, but instead words of advice around drug use were given.

A further 3 tested positive for a high trace of illegal drugs, and were searched under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act, all searches were negative.
