Police hunt trio targeted pensioners in Fareham thefts

Police are carrying out regular patrols and enquiries after a man and woman, both aged in their eighties, had money stolen from them in two separate thefts in Fareham At some point between midday and 12:35pm on Monday 3 June an 88 year-old woman was shopping in Thackeray Mall when someone removed her purse from her bag. Her bank card was subsequently used to withdraw £500. At around 1pm an 87 year-old man was approached by a man and a woman he did not know on West Street near the junction with Kings Road. The victim reported that the man wrapped his arms around him and started a conversation. When the victim returned home later, he noticed that £500 was missing from his jacket pocket. Neither victim was hurt. We are carrying out enquiries to establish if the reports are linked and are releasing images of three people seen in the area at the time who may be able to help. The first man is described as: Asian. Aged between 25 and 35 years-old. 5ft 10ins tall. Medium build. Black hair. He was wearing sunglasses, a black leather jacket, a white patterned t-shirt, and was carrying a bag. The second man is described as: Asian. Aged in his thirties. 5ft 7ins tall. Slight build. Short black hair, shaved at the sides. He was wearing round framed glasses, a blue jacket, a patterned shirt, blue ripped jeans, and black and white trainers The woman is described as: Asian. Aged between 35 and 40 years-old. 5ft 6ins tall. Slim build. Black hair. She was wearing a black top, black and white patterned trousers, and was carrying two bags.
