Police Hunt for Crucial Witness After Knife Thrown During Chatham Arrest

Detectives are urgently appealing for a key witness to come forward after a knife was discarded during a dramatic police incident in Hills Terrace, Chatham.

At around 7pm on Friday, 2 May, officers detained an 18-year-old man from Maidstone who was seen acting suspiciously. During the arrest, a motorist approached police, reporting that the suspect had thrown a knife to the ground.

Officers swiftly recovered a lock knife at the scene, and the teenager was taken into custody. He has since been bailed pending further investigation.

Motorist Urged to Get in Touch

Kent Police have now launched a public appeal to trace the motorist who witnessed the weapon being discarded.

“We believe the motorist holds vital information that could significantly aid our investigation,” a spokesperson said.

Anyone with information is urged to call 01634 792209, quoting reference 46/73160/25.

Other witnesses to the incident are also encouraged to come forward to assist officers with the ongoing enquiries.
