On Saturday, police arrested a man following a serious assault at a pub in Thatto Heath, St Helens.
At around 8.55pm officers were called to reports of a man being stabbed at the Vine Tavern on Elephant Lane.
When officers arrived, paramedics were treating the man for stab wounds to his arms, chest, and head. The attack was carried out by two offenders, one of whom was armed with a knife.
The victim is still in the hospital being treated for his injuries, which are thought to be serious but not life threatening.
In the early hours of today, a 19-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a bladed article in a public place.
He has been arrested and will be questioned.
Crime scene investigators are still conducting forensic examinations at the scene, and officers are conducting house-to-house inquiries. They are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area and have deployed high visibility patrols to reassure the local community.
