In a surprising turn of events, police in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, uncovered a stash of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bars filled with cannabis during a recent drug raid, raising concerns about potential risks to public safety.
Acting on local intelligence, officers executed a warrant under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, leading them to a property in the Rossington area on Tuesday. Inside the premises, authorities made a startling discovery: 50 Dairy Milk chocolate bars infused with edible cannabis, alongside significant quantities of the drug and over £5,000 in cash.
The presence of these cannabis-laced treats, disguised as ordinary chocolate bars, has prompted fears over the potential consequences, especially if they were to fall into the hands of unsuspecting individuals, particularly children.
Sergeant Chris Rogers, of Doncaster South NPT, expressed grave concern over the situation, emphasizing the potential danger posed by the cannabis-infused chocolate bars. He remarked, “If these were to end up in the hands of a child, the consequences could have been disastrous, and we are pleased we have been able to take these out of circulation.”
The raid also uncovered other concerning items, including a knuckle duster, burner phones suspected to be used for drug dealing, and bags of cannabis concealed inside an empty tin of Roses chocolates.
In response to the discovery, two men aged 28 and 18, along with a 59-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled Class B drug with intent to supply. While they have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries, authorities remain steadfast in their commitment to combatting drug-related crime in the area.
Sergeant Rogers issued a stern warning to those involved in drug-related activities, asserting that law enforcement will not tolerate the presence or distribution of drugs in local neighborhoods. He urged anyone with information regarding drug supply in their area to come forward and report it to the authorities promptly.
The shocking revelation serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug crime and underscores the importance of vigilance and community cooperation in safeguarding public safety. Concerned individuals are encouraged to contact the police via the non-emergency number 101 or dial 999 in case of emergencies related to drug-related incidents.
