Police dog stabbed in Derbyshire

The stabbing incident occurred whilst Police were dealing with a domestic-related incident at around 6.30pm in the High Street of Riddings, Derbyshire on Wednesday 4th July.A post on Derbyshire Polices’ website stated that Police Dog Axle was making a “good recovery” following the incident and also paid tribute to and thanked the thousands of good will messages which have been left on one of their posts which gave the initial details of the stabbing.A 27-year-old male has been arrested following the incident – no Police Officers were injured.After the frenzied knife attack on PD Axle, Officers from Derbyshire Armed Response Unit said that PD Axle had been “sedated” and was “awaiting surgery” at near-by veterinary practice in Derby.Derbyshire Police confirmed that the male had been detained and arrested with the assistance of the Air Support Unit (NPAS) Birmingham.
