A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Croydon, South London, over the weekend.
Earlston Bennet, 57, of Towpath Way, Croydon, was formally charged with murder on Monday, April 14, and is set to appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 15.
Early Morning Emergency Call
Police were called to an address on Towpath Way at around 4:55am on Saturday, April 12, following reports of a serious incident. Despite the swift arrival of emergency services, a 58-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Although formal identification is yet to be completed, police have named the victim as Sarah Reynolds. Her family is being supported by specially trained officers during this difficult time.

Suspect Known to the Victim
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Bennet was known to Sarah Reynolds, and they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
“Detectives continue their work to build a picture of Sarah’s life in the weeks leading up to her death,” the Met said in a statement.
Investigators are appealing to the public for any information that may assist their enquiries. Those who interacted with Sarah or saw her recently are urged to come forward.
