A man has been charged with murder as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of a man in Grays, Essex. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, October 6, near New Road.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a disturbance had taken place, resulting in a serious injury to a man. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, 19-year-old Ashton Rowbotham tragically lost his life.
On the same day, a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries. Following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service, Connor Knight, 21, of New Road, Grays, has now been charged with murder.
Knight is scheduled to appear in Southend Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 23.
Leading the investigation is Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
