Police charge man with burglary and theft after a break-in at a property in Eastbourne

A man has been charged with burglary and theft after a break-in at a property in Eastbourne.

Police officers were in the town centre on Tuesday, March 10 when they saw a man enter an address in South Street around 6.30pm.

Moments later, a torchlight was seen to come on inside one of the properties for approximately one minute. The man was then seen to leave the address.

When the occupant of the property returned home later that evening, it was found a quantity of cash had been stolen from inside the address.

Darrell Owen, 52, unemployed, of Howard Square, Eastbourne, was arrested and charged with burglary and theft.

He appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (April 18), where he was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on May 15.
