A police car collided with another vehicle on a busy South London road this morning, causing significant disruption and leading to the closure of Brixton Hill. The incident occurred on Friday, August 9, around 7:34 am, between Dumbarton Road and Elm Park.

The collision resulted in the closure of Brixton Hill, a major thoroughfare that connects the main part of Brixton to Christchurch Road in Streatham. The road closure caused delays and diversions for eight London bus routes, including the 45, 59, 109, 118, 133, 159, 250, and 333.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police provided details of the incident, stating: “Police were called at 7:34 am on Friday, August 9, to reports of a road traffic collision in Dumbarton Road, near Brixton Hill, SW2. Officers, the London Ambulance Service, and the London Fire Brigade attended and found a police car in collision with another car.

Three individuals involved in the collision were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service (LAS) personnel for minor injuries. Fortunately, there were no reports of serious injuries, and all those affected are expected to recover.

The road closure and bus diversions caused significant disruption to the morning commute, with drivers and passengers advised to seek alternative routes. Brixton Hill has reopened, but delays are still expected as traffic returns to normal.
