Police Appeal: Woman Sought After Shop Worker Injured in Handsworth Robbery Attempt

West Midlands Police have launched a public appeal to identify a woman in connection with an attempted robbery that left a shop worker injured in Handsworth last month.

The incident occurred around 2pm on Tuesday, 19 March, at a store on Holyhead Road, where a worker sustained a hand injury while attempting to prevent the robbery.

CCTV Image Released

Investigators have released a CCTV image of a woman they wish to speak with in connection to the case. While the image is not of the highest clarity, officers are hoping someone may recognise the individual and come forward with information.

“We appreciate this isn’t the clearest image,” said a police spokesperson. “But we’re keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this person or who recognises them.”

How to Help

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Midlands Police via:

  • Live Chat on the official website
  • Calling 101,

All information will be treated with confidence. Police are particularly keen to speak to any witnesses who may have been in the area around the time of the incident or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist the investigation.

Worker Recovering

The shop worker, who sustained a non-life-threatening hand injury, is said to be recovering, though shaken by the encounter. Local business owners have expressed concern over safety in the area, and some have called for increased patrols.

This appeal is part of West Midlands Police’s ongoing efforts to tackle retail crime and ensure justice for victims.

If you have any information, no matter how small, please come forward. Your help could make all the difference in resolving this case.
