Kent Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a suspicious fire and criminal damage in Wye, near Ashford.
The incident occurred at around 10.20pm on Sunday, 9 March 2025, on land along Olantigh Road. It was reported that hay bales were deliberately set alight, and damage was caused to a nearby unoccupied caravan, including broken windows and shattered crockery.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Ongoing Investigation
Officers have launched an investigation and carried out several enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area. They are now seeking to identify two boys seen in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
The first suspect is described as:
- White, aged around 15 to 17
- Brown hair
- Wearing a grey hooded top, white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white trainers
The second suspect is described as:
- White, aged around 15 to 17
- Ginger curly hair
- Wearing a black gilet, white T-shirt, grey trousers, and grey trainers
Police Appeal
A Kent Police spokesperson said:
“We are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have private CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist our investigation. If you saw two individuals matching these descriptions or have any relevant information, please come forward.”
