Police Appeal for Witnesses After Serious Crash in Wadhurst

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Wadhurst which left a woman with potentially life-changing injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1am on Monday, 21 July, after a grey Mitsubishi travelling eastbound on the B2169 Furnace Lane left the nearside carriageway and overturned down an embankment.

The vehicle, which had two occupants, was recovered by fire crews. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident.

A 56-year-old woman from Tunbridge Wells, who was a passenger in the car, had to be extracted from the wreckage by emergency services. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are thought to be life-altering.

The driver, a 59-year-old man also from Tunbridge Wells, was uninjured in the crash.

Sussex Police have launched an investigation, codenamed Operation Real, to determine the full circumstances of the incident. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle in the moments leading up to it.

They are also asking the public to come forward with any relevant dash cam, mobile phone or CCTV footage that may assist with their enquiries.

Information can be sent directly to the investigation team via email at: [email protected], quoting Operation Real.
