Police Appeal for Witnesses After Campervan Fire in Rottingdean

Police have launched an investigation following a deliberate fire that destroyed a campervan in Rottingdean late on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to Greenways at around 10.45pm on Friday (28 March) after receiving reports of a vehicle fire. Fire crews quickly attended the scene and extinguished the blaze, which had caused extensive damage to the campervan.

Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Following initial enquiries, the fire has been confirmed as deliberate, prompting Sussex Police to open a full investigation.

Officers are now appealing to the public for any information or witnesses who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area around the time of the incident.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said:

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened or who noticed anything unusual in Greenways around 10.45pm on Friday night.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police online or call 101, quoting serial 1523 of 28/03. Alternatively, anonymous reports can be made to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
