Staffordshire Police in Tunstall, Stoke On Trent are appealing for information from the public after two men attempted to break into a food-bank located on the grounds of St Mary’s Primary School. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
At approximately 08.00 on October 11, police received reports of an attempted burglary at the primary school on Harewood Street. CCTV footage captured two individuals entering the school premises and attempting to gain access to the food-bank building using a screwdriver. Staff members later discovered damage to the door and noticed a discarded lock barrel nearby.
One of the offenders was seen wearing a hooded top with goggles attached to the hood, while the other wore a tracksuit and Nike trainers. The suspects were unsuccessful in their attempt to breach the food-bank, which holds crucial supplies for local families. Undeterred, they then targeted another building on the school grounds that contained important school materials.
Pc Nick Davies, a member of the Stoke North local policing team, expressed concern over the incident, stating, “When the suspects failed to get into the food-bank, which contains vital supplies for local families, these people tried to break into another building containing important school work.”
Law enforcement authorities are diligently reviewing the CCTV footage and speaking to individuals in the surrounding area as part of their ongoing investigation. They are urging anyone with relevant information, particularly those in possession of CCTV, dash-cam, or doorbell footage from the time of the incident, to come forward.
