REMANDED TO PRISON Plymouth Man in Court Over Chilling Double Strangulation of 82-Year-Old

 

A Plymouth man accused of strangling an 82-year-old appeared in court today, Monday 20 October 2025.

Early Morning Police Rush

Police were called to Chudleigh Road just after 3am on Saturday following reports of a violent attack. At least four police vehicles responded to the scene in a major operation.

Defendant Pleads Not Guilty

Thomas Reid, 32, of Chudleigh Road, denies two counts of intentional strangulation. He pleaded not guilty at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court and has been remanded in custody.

Next Court Date Set

Reid is due to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on 24 November for further hearings.

“Thomas Reid, 32, from Chudleigh Road, Plymouth, has been charged with two counts of intentional strangulation in connection to an incident on 18 October,” said a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police.

“He is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today (20 October).”
