Two homeless men, Daniel Ramzi, 26, and Abderrahim Mamma, 29, have pleaded guilty to multiple thefts across the england/Citycity-of-Londonlondon/”>england/city-of-Londonlondon/”>City of London. Both were caught red-handed after a spree of bag and gadget snatches on January 15 and January 21.
Mobile Phones, Laptops — Nothing Was Safe
The duo struck at a fast-food joint on Bishopsgate, snatching a mobile phone straight from a coat Pocketpocket. Their spree didn’t stop there. They nabbed laptops from bags at a licensed venue on Gracechurch Street and again at a pub in Leadenhall Market—caught on CCTV brazenly reaching over barriers to swipe the goods and then sneakily replacing the bags.
Bling Bag Swaps at Pubs
On January 21, Ramzi and Mamma hit a pub on Old Broad Street. Ramzi swapped out bags, switching stolen ones for other bags in a quick con. They repeated the trick on another group before making their getaway.
Justice Served: Jail Time and Bans
- Abderrahim Mamma got 20 months behind bars and a five-year ban from The Citythe City of London. He also admitted to seven other thefts outside the City.
- Daniel Ramzi was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
“This is another great result in seeing two prolific bag thieves behind bars. We hope that these sentences will give reassurance to businesses and members of the public that we take such offences very seriously,” said Sergeant James Wood of the City of London Police.
“Our warning to criminals; don’t come into the City to steal bags. We will bring those committing crimes in the City to justice and we will use all of our resources to help prevent and deter any further criminal activities.”
