Chaos erupted at england/england/darlington/”>darlington/”>Darlington station on the East Coast Main Line at 11.45am today (September 27) after emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Services from London Kings Cross Screech to a Halt
Train lines to and from London Kings cross-england/”>cross/”>Cross were immediately closed, causing cancellations and delays of up to an hour. Passengers faced major disruption, with delays expected to continue until 4pm.
Casualty Dies at the Scene, Police Confirm No Suspicion
Paramedics attended the incident, but sadly the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. A British Transport Police spokesperson said:
“Officers were called to the line close to Darlington station at 11.45am on Saturday (September 27) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
