Paul Mosley, the “sick and deluded” man who helped Mick Philpott murder six children in a horrific Derby house fire, has died in prison.
The Bloody Blaze That Shook Derby
In 2012, Mosley assisted Mick Philpott in setting fire to their home in Allerton, Derby. The fire claimed the lives of six of Philpott’s children: Duwayne, 13; Jade, 10; John, nine; Jack, eight; Jessie, six; and Jayden, five.
Mosley was convicted of manslaughter and jailed for 17 years. Mick Philpott received a life sentence, and his wife Mairead got 17 years. Mairead was freed in 2020 after serving half her term.
A Twisted Plot to Blame the Victim
The Philpotts and Mosley tried to pin the horrific arson on Mick’s mistress, Lisa Willis, who had recently left the family home with her children. Their goal? To secure a larger council house in Osmaston, Derby.
But their plan unraveled after police bugged Philpott’s hotel room, hearing the chilling arson scheme discussed. Mosley even removed petrol containers before the fire started, directly aiding the crime.
Disturbing Details Emerge
During police surveillance, it surfaced that Philpott encouraged Mosley to have sex with Mairead—initially watched by Philpott and later joined in—a sick subplot to this horrifying tragedy. Mosley was released from prison in 2021 but was recalled in November 2023.
“Sick, deluded and callous beyond belief,” said Andy Lyons, partner of Mosley’s sister, reflecting the public’s disgust.
