Passengers Evacuated After Person Hit by Train at Wimbledon Station

A major emergency response is underway in south-west London this evening after a person was struck by a train at Wimbledon Station.
Emergency services, including paramedics and officers from the British Transport Police (BTP), were called to the busy interchange at around 7:00pm on Thursday 31st July 2025.

Witnesses reported seeing passengers evacuated from platforms as staff and first responders moved quickly to secure the area.
The condition of the individual has not yet been confirmed, and the circumstances of how they came to be on the tracks remain unclear.

A BTP spokesperson said:
“We were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Wimbledon Station shortly after 7pm. Paramedics are in attendance, and the station has been closed while emergency services respond.”
Rail services through Wimbledon have been severely disrupted, with trains delayed or cancelled. Passengers are being advised to avoid the station and check live travel updates for alternative routes.
The station will remain closed until the scene is declared safe and rail operations can resume.
