Two Injured in Suspected Corrosive Substance and Knife Attack in Orpington

Two men have been injured following a suspected corrosive substance and knife attack in Orpington.

The Metropolitan Police said they were called at around 7:10pm on Monday, 11 August to reports of an assault along Cray Avenue. Officers attended alongside London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service crews.

A 40-year-old man and a 43-year-old man were treated at the scene for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Both declined hospital treatment. A third man, aged 22, was reportedly uninjured.

Detectives are investigating reports that the victims were targeted with both a knife and a corrosive substance. No arrests have been made.

A Met Police spokesperson said:

“There have been no arrests at this stage and enquiries are ongoing. Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood team have increased their patrols in the area.”
