During the afternoon of Friday, January 20, 2023, 36 vehicles were stopped in Cheriton Road, Tram Road, and Sandgate Hill.
Seven people were reported for not wearing their seatbelts, while others were reported for texting while driving and speeding. One vehicle was discovered to be uninsured, resulting in the driver being reported and the vehicle being seized.
Officers from the Folkestone Community Policing Team, as well as officers from the town centre and the Kent Special Constabulary, searched two cars for suspected drugs.
An 18-year-old Folkestone man was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving in Tram Road. He was later released on bail until April 20th, pending further investigation. Two other people received community resolutions for cannabis possession.
23 motorists were given advice on a variety of topics, including vehicle maintenance and safe driving.
The work was aimed at educating road users and promoting safer driving across the town,’ said Folkestone sergeant Kevin Marsh.
‘We are committed to making our roads as safe as possible, and operations like this help to reinforce the need for everyone to do their part, keep their vehicles roadworthy, and keep their full focus on the road.’
