Police have received a series of reports between May 10th and July 4th in relation to damage being caused to buses in the Burgess Road and Tulip Road areas.
Officers have also received reports of cars being damaged in the same area, resulting in broken windows and dents to bodywork.
An 11-year-old boy from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. He has been released from police custody but remains under investigation while enquiries continue.
Inspector Brian Goodall said:
“Targeting moving vehicles in this way is incredibly reckless behaviour, and it is very fortunate that nobody has been hurt. The damage that has been caused is having a significant impact on drivers, the bus company’s ability to operate a full service, and residents who rely on their local buses.
“We are working hard to support victims and the local community by identifying the offenders and fully investigating in order to bring those responsible to justice. This behaviour will not be tolerated by the police.
