Off-Road Bikes Seized in Middlesbrough and Thornaby in Police Crackdown

Cleveland Police have seized three off-road bikes in the Middlesbrough and Thornaby areas as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal and anti-social riding.

The Matrix Team, supported by police drone surveillance, recovered the vehicles on Saturday, May 10, as part of targeted efforts to tackle nuisance riding, which has caused widespread concern among local residents.

Details of the Seizures

  • Two bikes were recovered on Woodville Avenue, where officers stopped two young riders wearing balaclavas. Both were reported for driving offences with their parents present.

  • A third bike was seized from a 16-year-old boy who had purchased and ridden it for the first time that day.

The boy, along with the other two individuals, is being processed for traffic-related offences under road traffic legislation</strong>.

“We are committed to addressing the disruptive and illegal use of off-road bikes in our communities,” a Cleveland Police spokesperson said.

Summer Enforcement Campaign

Police confirmed that similar action will continue throughout the summer, with increased patrols, community reports, and drone deployments planned to monitor and apprehend offenders.
