Firefighters Tackle Blaze at Home in Newhaven

Fire crews were called to a domestic property fire in Newhaven this morning, prompting a major emergency response and temporary road closure.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were alerted at 10.55am to reports of a blaze at a home in Lewes Road (C7).

Fire service response

Three fire engines were sent to the scene, with crews deploying:

  • Four breathing apparatus
  • Two hose reel jets
  • A Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fan

The C7 Lewes Road was closed while firefighters tackled the blaze, before reopening once the incident was scaled down.

Ongoing monitoring

Emergency services remain at the scene this afternoon as crews continue to monitor the property to ensure the fire does not reignite.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed and an investigation is expected to be carried out.
