Netflix Makes Profile Transfer Easier for Users Without Accounts

Netflix has introduced a change to its password-sharing rules, simplifying the process for individuals who have been left without an account. The streaming service recently announced that it has taken steps to facilitate the transfer of profiles between accounts, making it possible to move profiles not only to new accounts but also to reactivated accounts.

Previously, users could only transfer their profiles to a new account. However, the latest update allows for the transfer of profiles to reactivated accounts as well. To initiate the profile transfer, users need to enter the email and password associated with the profile into the Profile Transfer section on the Profile page of their Netflix account.

This change follows Netflix’s earlier crackdown on password sharing, which was implemented earlier this year. Customers who were found to be sharing their accounts with individuals “outside their household” received emails from Netflix, informing them of the account’s intended usage and the need to pay £4.99 to share it.

A Netflix spokesperson stated, “We will be sending this email to members who are sharing Netflix outside their household in the United Kingdom. A Netflix account is for use by one household.” The company emphasizes that all individuals within a household can still enjoy Netflix’s services, whether at home, on the go, or during holidays, thanks to features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices.

Netflix acknowledges that its members have various entertainment choices and reaffirms its commitment to providing a diverse range of films and TV programs. By investing in new content, the streaming giant aims to cater to different tastes, moods, languages, and viewing preferences, ensuring there is always something satisfying to watch on the platform.

With this latest update to the profile transfer feature, Netflix aims to offer more convenience to its users, allowing them to seamlessly move their watch history, My List, and favourites to new or reactivated accounts.
