A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a double shooting in Hammersmith, west London, that left one man dead and another injured.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to Claxton Grove at 11.19pm on Tuesday, June 11, after receiving reports of gunshots in the area.
At the scene, officers found two men in their 30s being treated for gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital for emergency care.
One of the victims, a 30-year-old man, sadly died the following day (June 12). His next of kin have been informed, and they are currently being supported by specially trained family liaison officers. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
The second victim was treated for minor injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.
Suspect Re-Arrested on Suspicion of Murder
A 28-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, but has since been re-arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah said:
“Our deepest sympathy is with the victim’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers at this time.
This is a shocking crime to occur in any community, and we thank locals for their patience. They will see an increased police presence in the area as we conduct our enquiries.”
