A murder investigation is underway following the tragic death of a 30-year-old woman in Croydon.
Emergency services were called to a property on Bensham Lane at approximately 7:00 PM on Monday, 20 January, after receiving reports of an unresponsive woman. Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrests Made
Two men, both aged 21, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.
Chief Superintendent Andy Brittain, leading the investigation, expressed his condolences:
“We are saddened to hear about the loss of this young woman. We are supporting her family as they process this shocking news. At this early stage, we believe the two men were known to the woman, and there is no threat to the wider public.”
Community Reassurance
Chief Superintendent Brittain acknowledged the impact this incident will have on the community and assured residents that police are working diligently to investigate.
“You may notice a higher police presence in the area throughout the day. Please voice any concerns to officers,” he added.
Call for Witnesses
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“Did you hear anything unusual? Did you see anyone leaving the property? If you did, please do the right thing and speak with us,” urged Chief Superintendent Brittain.
A special post-mortem examination is scheduled for today, Tuesday, 21 January.
