A murder investigation is underway following the discovery of a woman’s body at a property in Havant, Hampshire.
Police were first alerted at 9.42am on Thursday (17 April) when a man was spotted walking alone along the M40 near Junction 3. Officers attended the scene and, during their interaction, the man disclosed that a woman known to him had died at an address in Timsbury Crescent, Havant.
Upon attending the property, officers found the body of a woman in her 40s. Her death is now being treated as suspicious, and an investigation has been launched by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary’s Major Crime Team.
A 48-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed, and police are providing support as the investigation progresses.
In a statement, Hampshire Police said:
“This is a tragic incident and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances. We would like to reassure the public that this is being treated as an isolated case and there is no wider risk to the community.”
