Murder Charge After Man Is Killed In Litherland

In a tragic turn of events, a 32-year-old man, identified as Matthew Horton, lost his life in Litherland, Merseyside prompting a murder charge against a 25-year-old individual. The incident unfolded on Tuesday, September 5, at approximately 23.35 when authorities responded to reports of a disturbance at a property on Sefton View, which resulted in the victim sustaining stab injuries.

Police swiftly arrived at the scene, initiating life-saving efforts including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). However, despite their valiant attempts, Matthew Horton was tragically pronounced dead at the location.

The loss of life has deeply affected Horton’s family, and they are currently receiving support from specially trained officers as they navigate this difficult period.

Liam Thomas, a 25-year-old resident of Wooden Avenue in Crosby, has been formally charged with murder in connection with this devastating incident. Additionally, he faces charges related to the possession of a bladed article in a public place. Following his arrest, Thomas has been remanded into custody and is set to appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court on Friday, September 8

As law enforcement continues its thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Matthew Horton’s untimely death, a 31-year-old woman from Litherland, who had been arrested on suspicion of murder, has been granted bail under certain conditions.
