Emergency services have responded to a mass stabbing incident at a Walmart Supercenter in Traverse City, Michigan, with multiple victims reported and a suspect now in custody, authorities confirmed Saturday evening.

The violent attack unfolded just before 5 p.m. local time at the store located off Crossing Circle. Grand Traverse 911 issued a public alert urging people to avoid the area while emergency services were on scene. Officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.

At Least 7 Injured, Some Critically

Initial reports suggest at least seven people were stabbed during the incident. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as multiple ambulances and dozens of police units descended on the store. Tourniquets were reportedly applied at the scene to treat serious injuries.

As of now, the exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed. The identities and conditions of the victims remain undisclosed.

Suspect in Custody

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was quickly detained at the scene. Authorities have not released a motive, and the circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation.

Traverse City, a popular tourist destination located about 125 miles north of Grand Rapids, has rarely seen incidents of this scale.
