The coordinated operation, which took place on Friday, 24 January 2025, included foot patrols, vehicle stops, and checks in response to concerns raised by residents and business owners.

Arrests and Enforcement Actions

The day of action led to several notable enforcement measures, including:

  • Two people arrested on suspicion of theft and assault.
  • One individual detained for being wanted on a court warrant.
  • Seven e-scooter riders stopped, issued formal warnings, and had their vehicles seized.
  • Two individuals fined for breaching a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), including one man caught drinking in a prohibited area.
  • Four motorists stopped and reported for traffic offences, including driving without a licence and no insurance.

Police Statement: ‘These Operations Will Continue’

Police Sergeant Chris Watson, of the Medway Community Safety Unit, emphasized that enforcement operations like this will continue in the coming months:

“We have completed another of our regular enforcement days in an effort to tackle the small minority of people who persist in acting in an antisocial or disorderly manner.

“Working with our partners, we were able to use a range of tactics, including words of advice, vehicle seizures, reporting for summons, and arrests when appropriate. These days of action will continue over the coming months.”

Commitment to Public Safety

The operation reflects the ongoing commitment of Medway’s authorities to combat antisocial behaviour, improve public safety, and address community concerns.

Police and Medway Council are urging local residents and businesses to report any ongoing issues to assist in targeting future enforcement efforts.
