Multi-Agency Air and Land Search Underway for Missing Light Aircraft in Kent

A multi-agency search operation is underway in Kent following reports of a light aircraft with an unregistered flight plan going missing. The aircraft was last seen in the vicinity of Ashford and Pluckley.

Kent Police, the UK Coastguard, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service are all involved in the search effort. Coastguard Rescue 230A has been conducting an aerial search of the area. As of now, it is unclear if the aircraft is in distress, as authorities have been unable to establish contact with the pilot.

A spokesperson for Kent Police confirmed the involvement of multiple agencies in the search but did not provide further details. Kent Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed their participation, stating, “We are involved in a multi-agency search, but the nature of the incident is not currently known at this time.”

A Spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: Kent Fire and Rescue Service is involved in a search for a light aircraft, after reports it was in difficulty, in Charing, near Ashford. Five fire engines are in attendance, as well as a technical rescue team, with crews using drones to scour an area of woodland off Pluckley Road. Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service are also there. People are advised to avoid the area while the search continues.
