MP Mark Menzies Faces Investigation Over Alleged Misuse of Campaign Funds

The Conservative Party has launched an investigation into allegations of campaign fund misuse by Tory MP Mark Menzies. The Fylde representative is under scrutiny following claims that he misappropriated £14,000 in donations intended for Tory campaign activities.

Late-Night Distress Call

MP Mark Menzies Faces Investigation Over Alleged Misuse of Campaign Funds

The controversy deepened when it was revealed that Menzies allegedly made a late-night call to a 78-year-old aide, urgently seeking assistance. According to sources, he claimed to be locked up by “bad people” who demanded thousands of pounds for his release. The incident occurred in December, and Menzies reportedly required £5,000 as a matter of “life and death.”

Funds Diverted to Personal Expenses

The Times reported that the £14,000 donated by supporters found its way into Menzies’ personal bank accounts, where it was used for private medical expenses. The Conservative Party is taking these allegations seriously, and Menzies disputes the claims.

Unusual Circumstances

A source close to Menzies shed light on the situation, revealing that the MP had met an individual through an online dating website. After visiting the man’s flat, Menzies continued socialising with another person at a second address. However, events took an unexpected turn when he fell ill, and several people at the address demanded £5,000 for cleaning up and other expenses.

Office Manager’s Involvement

In a peculiar twist, Menzies’ office manager reportedly paid the demanded sum from her personal bank account. The funds were later reimbursed from a campaign account named Fylde Westminster Group. The MP’s actions have raised eyebrows, especially given his role as one of Rishi Sunak’s trade envoys.

Repetition of Financial Missteps

This isn’t the first time Menzies has faced financial scrutiny. In 2020, he allegedly sought £3,000 from the campaign fund to cover medical bills. However, he failed to repay the money and instead requested an additional £4,000.
