Metropolitan Police Officer Convicted of Sexual Abuse Named

After being granted anonymity, Metropolitan Police officer PC Alex Law has been named following his conviction for sexually abusing a young girl.

Law, aged 43 and hailing from Dartford, admitted to two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 10 in 1996. The assaults occurred while Law was 15 years old, targeting the young girl while she was playing in the woods near Hexham in Northumberland.

Despite the passage of years, Law’s past caught up with him when the victim came forward in December 2022, shedding light on the horrific crimes he committed as a teenager.

On April 22, Law, residing on Cedar Drive, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for his offences. However, just three days later, he was granted anonymity during a Met Police misconduct hearing.

The victim’s decision to speak out was fueled by the sight of a photograph depicting Law wearing the uniform of the Metropolitan Police, compelling her to ensure that his past actions were made public.

Following the revelation, Law was swiftly dismissed from the Metropolitan Police force without notice on April 25, marking the termination of his career in law enforcement.

Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox expressed gratitude to Northumbria Police for their thorough investigation into the matter. He emphasized the commitment of the Metropolitan Police to swiftly remove individuals like Law, who are deemed unfit to serve in law enforcement, from the organization.

As Law begins serving his prison sentence, authorities continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of the public, ensuring that those responsible for heinous crimes are held accountable for their actions.
