Members Of The Volunteer Police Cadets Have Been Assisting A Community Initiative In Marden Linked To The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

The Maidstone based cadets have been giving up their free time in order to contribute to The Queen’s Green Canopy – a nationwide project to create a network of individual trees, copses and whole woodlands. On Saturday 5 March, the teenagers planted a mix of more than 100 Rowan, Cherry, Hawthorn and Crab Apple trees in Southons Field. Assistant Cadet Manager, Anne-Marie Moore, said: ‘These young cadets have all worked very hard to play their part in creating a green legacy for future generations to enjoy in Marden. They should be very proud of their efforts. The local parish council also greatly appreciated their tenacity and enthusiasm and have invited the cadets back next year to review their hard work.’ The Volunteer Police Cadets scheme is a uniformed organisation supported by Kent Police for young people aged 13 to 17. Cadets meet once a week for two to three hours during term time and in addition volunteer three more hours each month to help with a community-based project.
