Matthew, 34, Missing from Herstmonceux – May Be Travelling Barefoot

Police have launched an urgent search for Matthew, a 34-year-old man missing from Herstmonceux, East Sussex, who was last seen boarding a train barefoot in the early hours of this morning.

Matthew is believed to have been missing since 11:45pm on Friday, 4 July, and was last seen at 5:00am on Saturday, 5 July, boarding a train from Polegate towards Lewes.

Description & What He Was Wearing

He is described as having long blond hair, a beard, and was barefoot at the time of his disappearance. He is believed to be wearing:

  • Grey shorts
  • A khaki hoodie
  • No shoes

Travel Routes & Locations of Interest

Police believe Matthew may be travelling by train or on foot, and he has known links to several areas, including:

  • Tooting, Clapham, Balham and Victoria (London)
  • Oxford
  • Watford

Anyone who sees Matthew or has information about his whereabouts is urged to call 999 immediately, quoting reference 1164 of 5/7.

Police Statement

A spokesperson said:

“We are becoming increasingly concerned for Matthew’s welfare. He may be in a vulnerable state, and we’re asking anyone travelling by train or in the listed areas to keep an eye out.”

Members of the public are being encouraged to share this appeal, especially with contacts in London, Oxford, and Watford.
