Man who cut his throat is tasered by Police and airlifted to hospital

Police were called to an incident in a residential block in Garter Way, #Rotherhithe #SE16.

Officers were called at 5.53pm following reports of a man in his 50s behaving erratically. Police attended and saw the man was holding a knife.

Police taser was deployed and discharged but was unsuccessful. The man then suffered a self-inflicted knife injury to his throat. London’s Air Ambulance have taken the man to hospital. His condition at this time is not thought to be life-threatening.

The man will be taken into police custody upon discharge  No other arrests.

Two officers taken to hospital as precaution having been spat at.

Police say this is being treated as an isolated incident and  there is no concern for any wider threat to the community.
