A fire broke out in a garage beneath a seven-storey block of flats on Ringers Road, Bromley, early this morning, igniting three vehicles and sending plumes of smoke across the town centre.
London Fire Brigade dispatched crews from Bromley, Lee Green, and Woodside stations after receiving five emergency calls at around 8:26 a.m. The flames, which originated in the ground-floor car park, quickly generated thick smoke that spread through the garage and became visible from the nearby high street.
Residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed as firefighters tackled the blaze. Social media users shared images on X showing smoke surrounding Bromley’s town centre.
One man found at the scene required assistance and was treated by paramedics before making his way to the hospital. His condition remains undisclosed.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 10:18 a.m., and temporary road closures on Ringers Road and Ravensbourne Road have since been lifted.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
