In a swift response to a series of early morning arson incidents, authorities have apprehended a 39-year-old man suspected of endangering lives through deliberate fires.
Incidents Unfold:
- Horse and Jockey Pub Blaze: At approximately 03:30 emergency services were alerted to a small fire at the Horse and Jockey pub on Church Street, Bilston. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
- Vehicle Fires: Shortly thereafter, multiple vehicles were either set ablaze or damaged by fire along Union Street, Bell Street, and Greencroft.
- Suspect Identified: Utilising rapid CCTV analysis, investigators identified a suspect who was later located in a park off Millfield Road by a police dog unit.
- Violent Confrontation: During the arrest attempt, the suspect hurled projectiles at officers and attempted to strangle a police dog. The canine, PD Snow, successfully subdued the assailant, who was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.
