Mark McConville, a 39-year-old man, has been sentenced to a minimum of 18 years imprisonment after being found guilty of the murder of William Duncan. The verdict was delivered after a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh in June.
Mr. Duncan tragically lost his life on Thursday, 3 February 2022, when he was found deceased at a property on Glenalmond Street in Shettleston. Following a thorough investigation, Mark McConville was identified as the perpetrator, and he was brought to justice for his heinous crime.
At the High Court in Glasgow, McConville was handed down a significant sentence of at least 18 years behind bars for the murder he committed. The sentencing comes as a measure of justice and closure for William Duncan’s grieving family and friends.
Detective Inspector Frank Travers, who led the investigation, expressed his sentiments about the case, saying, “Mark McConville committed a despicable act against a vulnerable member of the community.” He also expressed hope that the guilty verdict and the subsequent sentencing would bring some degree of closure to the loved ones left mourning William Duncan’s untimely death.
