Man Sentenced for Possession of Indecent Images of Children and Animals in Wiltshire
Salisbury Man Charged with Historic Rape and Assault Following Extradition from Spain

In a recent development, Nicholas Hughes, 56, residing in Trinity View, Caerleon, Newport, has been handed a suspended prison sentence of 12 months for possessing indecent images of children and animals. The sentencing took place at Salisbury Crown Court on Friday, April 26.

Hughes faced charges related to offences spanning from March 1, 2014, to May 24, 2022. These included making 250 Category A indecent photos of a child, possessing 26 extreme pornographic images involving animals, possessing 78 more extreme pornographic images with animals, holding 6 prohibited images of children, producing 37 Category B indecent images of children, and generating 84 Category C indecent images of children.

Alongside the suspended prison sentence, Hughes was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.

Detective Constable Kerry Foster, part of the Child Internet Exploitation Team, acknowledged the challenging nature of cases like these and expressed gratitude to those involved in the court proceedings, including Hughes’ family, for their patience and courage in confronting his actions.

The investigation revealed that the offences spanned several years and involved various devices. DC Foster reaffirmed Wiltshire Police’s commitment to taking sexual assault and related offences seriously, highlighting the existence of a dedicated team focused on investigating individuals involved in the online distribution and possession of indecent images of children and associated exploitation.

Wiltshire Police encourages individuals with information related to child sexual exploitation to come forward either by dialling 101 or reporting online.
