A 20-year-old man has been locked up for stabbing a defenceless victim sitting in the back of a car in Cardiff.
Stabbed in the Back and Stomach
Abdul Ali was sitting in the front seat of a car parked on Salisbury Road at 11.30pm on February 25, 2025. When the 34-year-old victim got into the back seat, Ali suddenly got out, ran around the car, and opened the driver-side rear door. He then lunged at the man, stabbing him in the neck and stomach.
The victim managed to escape the vehicle before another passenger held Ali back. A chaotic scuffle broke out between several men. Ali then fled the scene, sprinting into a nearby fast-food restaurant. He locked himself in a toilet cubicle, where police arrested him moments later.
CCTV Evidence Led to Conviction
The horrific attack was caught on CCTV, which helped detectives quickly identify Ali as the assailant. The victim sustained serious injuries and required emergency surgery.
Ali, from Salisbury Road, Cardiff, was charged with Section 18 wounding with intent. He pleaded not guilty but was found guilty following a trial. On Monday, September 21, Cardiff Crown Court sentenced him to ten years behind bars.
