Tragic Crash Blocks Level Crossing for Hours

A man has died after being struck by a train at St Dunstan’s Level Crossing near Canterbury West railway station on Saturday afternoon. The collision occurred at around 2.20pm, causing the crossing to be blocked for several hours while emergency services rushed to the scene.

Emergency Services Respond in Force

At the height of the incident, four police vehicles and two fire engines were on site attending to the emergency. Despite swift efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Confirm No Suspicion Around Death

“Officers responded with paramedics; however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene,” a British Transport Police spokesperson said.

The man is believed to be in his 50s. Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner as the investigation continues.
