Man in His 20s Killed in Tragic A31 Crash Involving Range Rover as Police Launch Appeal

A man in his 20s has sadly died following a serious collision on the A31 in the early hours of Saturday morning, prompting a police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.

Emergency services were called at 3.05am on Saturday, April 19, to reports of a Vauxhall Astra van colliding with the central reservation on the westbound carriageway of the A31, between Cadnam and Ringwood.

According to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, after the initial crash, the driver of the van exited the vehicle, at which point he was struck by a Range Rover travelling along the carriageway.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man, who was from Ringwood, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The A31 westbound was closed for several hours while collision investigators examined the scene. It has since reopened.

Police Appeal for Information

Officers have now launched a formal appeal for witnesses to help determine the full circumstances of the tragic incident.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said:

“We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the A31 in the early hours of this morning to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the Vauxhall Astra before the collision or who witnessed the man on foot on the carriageway.”

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference 44240159684, or submit footage via the Hampshire Police website.

The incident has left the local community in shock, with tributes expected to be paid in the coming days to the young man whose life was cut tragically short.
