Man in His 20s Dies After Being Shot in the Head in North London

A man in his 20s has died and another has been injured following a double shooting in north London.

Metropolitan Police were called to Waverley Road in Tottenham at approximately 8:45pm on Thursday evening (March 20), after reports that two men had been shot.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, where a 27-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man, aged 26, was also found suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene remains in place and a murder investigation has been launched. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, who leads policing in the area, acknowledged the shock the incident will cause within the local community.

Two men were shot on a residential street last night, with one man sadly losing his life,” she said. “We recognise the impact this will have on local residents. Officers are patrolling the area throughout today to gather key evidence and provide reassurance.”

“At this early stage in the investigation, we have not made any arrests. Please do not let this worry you — we have a highly experienced team of investigators working urgently to identify those responsible.”

Police are appealing for witnesses and information. “If you were in the area from 8pm onwards and saw or heard anything unusual, please contact us,” DCS Haines urged.

“Your information could prove vital in locating the suspects. Please do the right thing — you will be supported.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference CAD 6905/20 Mar. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
