A man is currently in custody arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a collision in Swindon in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called to Cricklade Road at the junction with Menham Road following a report that a Ford Focus had been involved in an incident.
When officers attended the scene, they found a man attempting to change a tyre in the middle of the carriageway.
A local man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to Gablecross custody for further questioning.
Roads Policing Unit A/Insp Will Ayres said: “Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences, all of which increase the risk of you being involved in a serious or fatal collision.
“Over the coming weeks, Wiltshire Police is making road safety an absolute priority through robust enforcement and driver education.
“Please think carefully about the choices you make before getting behind the wheel of a car.”
