Man Found Dead on A42 Near Ashby: Investigation Underway
Witnesses are being asked to come forward, following the arrest of a man for indecent exposure in Ashford

Detectives are currently probing the tragic death of a man on the A42 near Ashby in Leicestershire. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 5, when police received a call reporting a collision between a pedestrian and a car on the southbound carriageway, near junction 12.

Before the collision, witnesses observed a man sitting in the carriageway, adding to the mystery surrounding the incident. Emergency services, including the East Midlands Ambulance Service, swiftly arrived at the scene, but tragically, the man was pronounced dead.

Road closures were implemented following the incident, but the road has since reopened. Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen a man standing on the Ashby Road bridge or who witnessed the collision. Additionally, drivers passing junction 12 of the A42 are urged to review their dash cam footage, as it could provide crucial information for the ongoing investigation.
