A man has been charged with the murder of Anselam Senaj in Newham after being extradited from The Netherlands.
Saqib Khan, 22, born on January 21, 2001, with no fixed address, was apprehended by Dutch authorities on December 4, 2023, following collaborative efforts with international law enforcement partners.
Khan was returned to the United Kingdom on January 12 and placed in custody, where he faced charges of murder and possession of a knife.
He is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, January 13.
The incident that led to the charges occurred on November 11, 2023, when police were called at 10.11pmhours to reports of a man being stabbed inside a car at the junction of Victoria Avenue and Grangewood Street, E6.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Anselam Senaj, 26, with stab wounds. Despite the swift response of emergency services, he tragically lost his life at the scene. A post-mortem examination later revealed that the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest.
Anselam Senaj’s next of kin continues to receive support from specialist officers during this difficult time.
On November 22, warrants were issued at various addresses across London, leading to the arrest of five individuals: Khalis Malik, 18, born on August 13, 2005, residing at Pittman Gardens, Ilford Zain Ali, 20, born on March 27, 2003, residing at Poulett Road, East Ham Esahak Yusuf, 19, born on August 8, 2004, residing at Benson Avenue, E6 and Two 17-year-old boys
They made their initial appearance at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 24, and subsequently appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, November 28. Information about their next court appearance is pending.
